Introduction
Scope:
This Quality
Manual is used by Beaver Machine as the basis for managing all activities
associated with our Quality Management System.н
Purpose:
This Quality
Manual is intended to describe and provide control over activities that impact
customer satisfaction.н ISO 9001:2000 is
the basis for the creation of this Quality Manual.н This document contains all of the
requirements of the ISO 9001:2000 standard with the exception of Design
Activities.
Application:
Beaver Machine performs all activities associated
with ISO 9001:2000 with the exception of product design, Clause 7.3.
Background:
нAs a
precision machine shop, Beaver Machine has been a valued partner and supplier
to the

4.1 General Requirements
Beaver Machine has
established, documented, and implemented a Quality Management System in
accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2000.н This Quality Management System is described
in this document.н Beaver Machine strives
to continually improve the effectiveness of its Quality Management System.
As part of the Quality Management Systems Beaver
Machine has:

5.1 Management Commitment
The President of
Beaver Machine demonstrates his commitment to the development and
implementation of the Quality Management Systems and to continually improving
its effectiveness by:

The President of Beaver Machine ensures that all
customer requirements are determined and fulfilled with the aim of enhancing
customer satisfaction.н Methods for
accomplishing this are described in this Quality Manual and in the Attachment 1
5.3 Quality Policy
The President of Beaver Machine has established a
Quality Policy that is appropriate to its operations and activities.н The Quality Policy includes a commitment to
comply with requirements and continually improve the effectiveness of the
Quality Management System.н This Policy
also provides the framework for the establishment and review of Beaver Machine
Quality Objectives.н
The Beaver Machine Quality Policy is published as
part of this Quality Manual (see Attachment 2).
5.4.1 Quality Objectives
The President of Beaver Machine has established
Quality Objectives to support its Quality Management System (see attachment
3).н These objectives include those
needed to meet requirements for product.н
Beaver Machine Quality Objectives are established at relevant functions
within the company and are measurable.н
The Beaver Machine Quality Objectives are consistent with the Beaver
Machine Quality Policy.
5.4.2 Quality Management System Planning
The President of Beaver Machine is responsible for
the planning of the Quality Management System.н
This planning is carried out in order to meet the requirements given in
Element 4.1 and the Quality Objectives and is contained in Attachment 1 of this
Manual.
The President of Beaver Machine is responsible for
ensuring the integrity of the Quality Management System is maintained when
changes to the Quality Management System are planned and implemented.
5.5.1 Responsibility and Authority
The President of Beaver Machine ensures that
responsibilities, authorities and their interrelation are defined and
communicated within the organization.н
Attachment 1 to this Quality Manual provides additional assignment of
responsibility.
5.5.2 Management Representative
The President is the Management Representative.н The Management Representative has the
responsibility and authority to:

The President of Beaver Machine ensures that
appropriate communication processes are established within the organization and
that communication takes place regarding the effectiveness of the Quality

typically face-to-face but may consist of written correspondence between
employees at any function or level within the organization.

The President of Beaver Machine and designated staff
reviews the organizationэs Quality Management System on a semi annual
basis.н This review is intended to ensure
the continuing suitability, adequacy and effectiveness of the Quality
Management System.н Included as part of
this review is the assessment of opportunities for improvement and the need for
changes in the Quality Management System, the Quality Policy and Quality
Objectives.

7.1 Planning of Product Realization
The plans describing the processes used to achieve
quality are found in Attachment 1 of this Quality Manual.н These plans, when applied to a unique
customer job take into account the quality objectives associated with that job.
Within each unique
job plan, processes and documents are established to support results and
customer satisfaction.н This includes any
required verification, validation, monitoring, inspection and test activities
required by the customer or determined to be necessary for customer
satisfaction.н The Beaver Machine Job
Cost Card provides a record of the tasks associated with each job.
7.2.1 Determination of Requirements Related to the
Product
To ensure customer satisfaction the identification
of unique customer requirements is critical.н
To accomplish this Beaver Machine ensures:
7.2.2 Review of Requirements Related to the Product
Once Beaver Machine receives Customer requirements,
a review is conducted prior to the commitment to supply the product.н This review:
Emailed or written
records of the results of the review including Beaver Machine and customer
acceptance of the order terms and conditions are kept on file to provide a
record of this activity.
When Beaver Machine develops/creates the documented
requirements that represents customer needs, both Beaver Machine and the
customer prior to acceptance confirm these.
The
President of Beaver Machine is responsible for amending and as necessary,
re-approving and documenting product changes associated with jobs.
7.2.3 Customer Communication
Beaver Machine has established methods for
effectively communicating with customers:

customer.
7.41 Purchasing Processes
Beaver Machine ensures that purchased product
conforms to specified purchase requirements.н
The type and extent of control exercised by Beaver Machine over
suppliers is dependent on the effect of the purchased product on the final
product.
Suppliers are evaluated according to their ability
to meet Beaver Machine requirements.н The
criteria for selection of suppliers and their evaluation criteria are:

Each
order placed by Beaver Machine provides information necessary for the supplier
or subcontractor to successfully fill the order.н These requirements vary from order to order
and will include as appropriate:

subcontractor.
7.4.3 Verification of Purchased Product
Beaver Machine conducts verification of purchased
product as required.н These requirements

7.5.1 Control of Product and Service Provision

activities under controlled conditions.н

Service Provision
Beaver Machine does a first article inspection on
all jobs.н This inspection is designed to
ensure that product, tooling and equipment is capable of supplying products
that meet customer requirements.н This
evaluation ensures that:
7.5.3 Identification and Traceability
When a customer requirement for Identification or Traceability
is specified, the President of Beaver Machine develops the methodology that
will be applied to meet the unique customer requirement.н This includes as appropriate the
identification of:

on the item to be identified or traced.н
This identification then becomes a unique record of the item.
7.5.4 Customer Property
Beaver Machine exercises care with regard to
customer property.н Customer property
includes, but is not limited to:
The actions taken
by Beaver Machine ensure that customer property is appropriately identified,
verified, protected and safeguarded and available for use as required by the
job.н When customer property is found to
be unsuitable for use, the customer is notified and a record of this
notification is kept on file.
7.5.5 Preservation of Product
Preservation of product at Beaver Machine takes place
to ensure that parts and customer supplied product takes place to ensure that
these items are available for use throughout all phases of jobs.н This preservation includes control over three
activities:
Control activities ensure that all necessary actions
are taken to assure the proper identification, handling, packaging, storage and
protection of materials.н Preservation
activities include but are not limited to:
7.6 Control of Monitoring and Measuring Devices
Beaver Machine has
identified those pieces of equipment that require control and or
calibration.н For each item identified,
the process used for calibration is stipulated on our Inspection Equipment
Calibration Schedule.н Complete
instructions for calibration activities are contained in the calibration file.
Control of this equipment ensures:
When equipment is found to be out of calibration an
assessment is undertaken to record the validity of previous measuring
results.н Corrective action is taken to
resolve the problem or the customer is notified when they may be affected.н
Records of calibration are maintained to demonstrate
equipment qualification.

Measurement Analysis and Improvement
8.1 General
Beaver Machine develops plans to implement the
monitoring, measurement analysis and improvement processes needed to ensure
quality.н This plan includes:
Demonstration of product conformity by conducting
specific defined measurements on products as defined by the customer or
determined by Beaver Machine Management.н
Records of these measurements are made and used to verify conformance or
to take corrective action.
Beaver Machine conducts Internal Audits as a measure
of the effectiveness of its Quality Management System
The results of product and process measurements and
measures of the effectiveness of the Quality Management System are used as part
of the companyэs continuous improvement process.
8.2 Monitoring and Measurement
8.2.1 Customer Satisfaction
Customer satisfaction data is solicited by the
President of Beaver Machine on each job.н
This is done by face-to-face conversations or by telephone.н Results of this feedback are used to
formulate actions that resolve problems and provide for continuous improvement.
8.2.2 Internal Audit
Internal audits are undertaken by Beaver Machine as
a means of determining the effectiveness of their Quality Management
System.н Specific requirements for the
conduct of Internal Audits are defined in a QP03.н
Internal Audits take place annually or at any
shorter interval that is determined by the President of the company.н An internal audit checklist based on this
Quality Manual and associated procedures is used as the basis for this audit.н Adjustments are made to the planned audit
schedule based on:
Personnel performing internal audits are assigned in
a way to ensure that they are independent from the subject that is
audited.н Follow-up activities are taken
to ensure that actions are taken and that these results are verified and
reported to company management.
8.2.3 Monitoring and Measurement of Process
Monitoring and Measurement of Process takes place as
determined by the Customer or by the President of Beaver Machine.н These measurements are unique to each
customer job and may include:
Measurements are designed to demonstrate the ability
of the processes to achieve planned results. Results of measurements are used
to provide feedback to the process so that corrective actions can be
taken.н When requested, results of
measurements are also provided to customers as part of the completed job.
8.2.4 Monitoring and Measurement of Product
Monitoring and Measurement of Product takes place as
determined by the Customer or by the President of Beaver Machine.н These measurements are unique to each
customer product and may include:
Measurements are designed to demonstrate the
conformance of the product to specified requirements. Results of measurements
are used to provide feedback to the process so that corrective actions can be
taken.н When requested, results of
measurements are also provided to customers as part of the completed job.н Results of measurements including the responsible
authority for the measurement constitute a record of product release to the
customer.н This release to the customer
does not take place until all requirements have been met.
8.3 Control of Nonconforming Product
Beaver Machine controls all nonconforming products
to prevent unintended use or delivery to the customer.н This control includes but is not limited to:

responsible for the control of Nonconforming Product.н QP04 describes specific requirements for the
control of Nonconforming Product.
8.4 Analysis of Data
Beaver Machine uses data analysis as a means for
demonstrating the suitability and the effectiveness of its Quality management
System.н This data is also used to
evaluate continual improvement.н Data
includes:
8.5.1 Continual Improvement
Beaver Machine is committed to continual improvement
in every aspect of its operations.н This
improvement is accomplished by the use of the most recent technological
developments that are appropriate, the use of customer feedback, analysis of
data related to product and process and from analysis of the effectiveness of
the Quality Management System.н The
President of Beaver Machine is responsible for all Continual Improvement
Activities.
8.5.2 Corrective Action
Beaver Machine takes actions to eliminate the causes
of nonconformance as a means of preventing their recurrence.н The type and extent of corrective actions
taken are determined by the President of the company and are appropriate to the
effects of the nonconformance encountered.н

on an identified problem, a record of this action is taken which may be in any
form that is determined to be appropriate by the President.н

Preventive actions are identified and taken by
Beaver Machine as part of their continuous improvement process and as a means
of assuring customer satisfaction.н These
actions are designed to eliminate the causes of problems before they
